The Helping Hand Program at Compton Central represents an innovative and cost-effective approach to expanding access to health care. This mobile health program minimizes transportation barriers for our patients while delivering basic primary and preventive health services. We visit such locations and venues as schools, youth centers, places of worship, homeless programs, and senior centers. The Helping Hand program plays an important role in community outreach and in building bridges to our medically underserved Compton and South Central LA communities. |

CCHC has consistently sponsored events, such as opening the doors to the clinic as a Halloween Haunted House to allow kids a safe environment to enjoy their Halloween celebration, organized several homeless feedings, including preparation and distribution of meals for Thanksgiving, hosted Easter egg and gift hunts for the children, and sponsors a large Health Fair for the community providing free health screenings, resource information, food, rides, and entertainment for the residents. CCHC also sponsors a youth chess club, and participates in community meetings and local group activities. The Clinic supports activities by other human service and healthcare providers, such as the Watts Health Foundation, His Sheltering Arms, WLAC and other organizations to provide health education and resource information in a variety of formal settings, such as schools, public housing sites, community based organizations, etc. Whether doing street outreach, meeting indigent and low-income persons in parks and other places where they congregate, conducting door to door flyer distribution, or meeting with small businesses to provide information on health programs, CCHC has an intimate knowledge of it’s service area and continually seeks opportunities to collaborate with other groups and outreach to the community. |

Over the years CCHC has established strong link within the community and important relationship with agencies and community based-organization. We outreach to community-based organizations; human services programs, homeless and battered women’s shelters, treatment centers, schools, parole and probation programs, churches and other locations where individuals congregate. We outreach to motels and small business where employees are liable to be uninsured. |
